Americorps Member Math Fellow

Blueprint Math Fellows are math tutors that help students increase their confidence in and enjoyment of math. Fellows work with consistent small groups of students, 5 days a week, to teach them math skills that many of them missed out on learning during the pandemic. Our Fellows join a local school community, connect with their students, and receive a ton of training and ongoing support in math content and teaching strategies from a Blueprint Site Manager that is dedicated to their growth and success. 


Fellows have a variety of responsibilities that allow them to be an integral piece of their student’s educational experience.  The main responsibility is to tutor small groups of students. Fellow responsibilities typically fall into one of the following categories: Instruction, Planning, Communication & Feedback, and Compliance. 

  • M-F. Daily hours are based on each school’s schedule (typically 8am -4pm)

  • Blueprint Summer Training Institute and work the full school year. Start and end dates are based on school calendars which are approximately 10 months long (August – May)



Preferred requirements:

  • The ability and willingness to go above and beyond to help support students
  • A team-player attitude with a strong sense of personal accountability and strong communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to be flexible and deal with a certain amount of unpredictability
  • A positive sense of humor
  • Proficiency with technology (Google Gmail/Docs/Sheets, and MS Office: PowerPoint/Word/Excel)
  • Experience working with adolescents or related field
  • Experience tutoring or mentoring youth 
  • Bilingual candidates


  • Associates degree or higher 

Salary & Benefits

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Earn $24,000 for the 10-month school year based on the region where they work.  This is roughly equivalent to $17.03 an hour.
  • FULL individual medical, dental and vision coverage at no additional cost or contribution.
  • All candidates are eligible to join our AmeriCorps program and receive these additional benefits upon completion of their service hour requirement:
    • $6,345 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award which can be used to pay off student loans or future tuitions, study abroad, technology used for education and more
    • SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits (A monthly additional stipend between $194-$250 to use for groceries)
    • Childcare benefits for full-time AmeriCorps positions
    • Forbearance of qualified student loans during your year of service
    • Interest accrual payment for qualified student loans
  • For Fellows who decide they want to become teachers, Blueprint has established a partnership with Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development that will allow Blueprint Fellows the opportunity to obtain a Masters of Education (Ed.M.) in Curriculum & Teaching at two thirds of the cost.
  • Opt to work full or part time on summer school programs that typically last four to five weeks. Summer Fellows earn $18-$20 per hour in addition to their 10-month compensation. Benefits would continue for full-time summer Fellows.
  • If you add up ONLY the 10-month school year compensation, the AmeriCorps Segal Education Award and Summer School stipends. The total compensation package for Math Fellows ranges from $30,345 to $36,345.
